Last Sunday, on March 10, 2024, my husband and I immersed ourselves in the green paradise of MyBotanica at Expo Houten. As plant enthusiasts, with Special Houseplants close to our hearts, we were on the lookout for new plant gems and engaging encounters at this cross-border fair where the Netherlands, Belgium, and Germany converged in a sea of plants.
An Early Start and a Sea of Green Expectations
At 9:10 am, we were already in front of the doors of Expo Houten, ready to be engulfed by the green wave awaiting us. An impressive line of about 200 plant lovers was eagerly waiting when my husband and I joined. By the time the clock struck 9:30, and the doors swung open, surely as many more eager attendees had gathered behind us.
MyBotanica: A Green Celebration
The fair, adorned in floral splendor, presented us with a wealth of flora from different corners of Europe. Although we didn't have a stand this year, the atmosphere of discovery and wonder was palpable everywhere. The booths, including those of other passionate enthusiasts, exuded an inviting aura, beckoning us to explore.
Wishlist Triumphs and Unexpected Loves
In the heart of MyBotanica, our plant wishes came true. Scindapsus Mayari and Scindapsus Tricolor, long cherished on our wishlist, are now proudly part of our collection.
But unexpected loves also found their way into our green hearts. The Anthurium Bernalii, Anthurium Corrugatum, Monstera Obliqua Peru, Begonia Dracopetto x Darthvaderiana, Philodendron Polypodsoiodes, and Epipremnum Cebu Blue were added to the Special Houseplants collection.
Tips for Future Green Adventurers
For those considering joining the green festivities of MyBotanica in the future, here's a valuable tip: make sure to arrive early! The biggest treasures often find new owners quickly. Also, be sure to bring a (not too large) basket. Too big can be cumbersome through the crowd, while too small limits your ability to carry your finds. Consider this well for an untroubled green adventure!
